PCR Grade Vivacons achieved by Ethylene Oxide Treatment
The new Vivacon® 2 PCR Grade units, in addition to all features described below for Vivacon® 2, have been treated with a dual-cycle ethylene oxide (ETO) gas process to ensure they are sterile to a safety assurance level of 10-6 and free of detectable human genomic DNA contamination tested with a qPCR assay over 55 cycles with a verified limit of detection of < 2 pg.
Vivacon® 2 are centrifugal concentrators for DNA concentration and buffer exchange applications with samples up to 2 ml. For optimal performance with very dilute samples, e.g. forensic specimens, Vivacon® 2 is equipped with the patented Hydrosart® regenerated cellulose membrane that guarantees extremely low binding properties and high flux. High recoveries and excellent reproducibility are paired with convenience offered by volume graduation and molecular weight cut-off printed on individual devices.
Vivacon® 2 features a horizontal membrane design that is preferred by some users for reasons of consistency with previously used procedures and high recovery. The possibility of a back-spin after sample processing assures complete concentrate recovery which is especially important when working with low sample concentrations.

For smaller volumes of 500 µl (0.5 ml) and below Vivacon® 500 ETO with identical features is available.
